EPS Thickness: Which One to Choose?
Not sure which thickness to select? Here is a quick guideline depending on building type and climate conditions. If in doubt — we will help you choose the optimal solution for your project.
| Thickness | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| 50 mm | Minimal additional insulation for already insulated buildings or facades where thickness increase is limited. Provides a minor effect and is mainly used as a corrective or decorative solution rather than full insulation. |
| 80 mm | Entry-level insulation for relatively warm walls or regions with mild climates. Commonly used in renovations across Europe but does not meet modern energy-efficiency standards for new residential construction. |
| 100 mm | Basic solution for small buildings, cottages, or seasonal homes. Provides noticeable heat-loss reduction but is considered the minimum acceptable level in colder European regions. |
| 120 mm | The most balanced solution for most residential houses in moderate and cold climates. Ensures indoor comfort and real heating savings without excessive material costs. |
| 150 mm | Meets thermal insulation standards for multi-apartment residential buildings. A high-quality solution for energy-efficient homes with permanent residence, helping approach low-energy or passive house standards. |
| 200 mm | Maximum insulation level for northern regions or nearly zero-energy buildings (NZEB). Used where minimal heat loss is the priority and complies with European thermal insulation standards for residential buildings. |
The thicker the EPS layer — the better the thermal insulation. We will help you select the optimal thickness for your building.
Installation and Storage Recommendations
Installation:
- Surface preparation: The facade must be clean, dry, and level before installation. Remove any irregularities or defects if necessary.
- Marking: Carefully mark panel placement starting from the bottom row.
- Fixing: Panels are mounted using facade anchors and polyurethane adhesive foam. Follow manufacturer recommendations regarding fixing quantity and positioning.
- Joint grouting: After installation, joints between tiles must be filled with special grout to ensure sealing and aesthetic appearance.
Storage:
- Store thermal panels in a dry, ventilated area protected from direct sunlight and moisture.
- Panels should be stored horizontally on a flat surface to prevent deformation.
